Mill Hill Elementary School

The design and construction scope of work at Mill Hill Elementary School included the elimination of 5 portable classrooms, the addition of 21 classrooms and expansion of core areas including the library media center and the cafeteria. For us, this two year sitework project (August 2020 – June 2022)  began with extensive remediation of polluted soils and revamping the city’s sewer system. With that completed, we upgraded all the water, gas and electrical supply. Challenges included rock excavation being in an established neighborhood and an occupied building where we couldn’t blast. Rock had to be hammered out by section and carted off site. We also had to create extensive underground water storage systems to help disperse storm water into the ground and the city’s system as well as installation of pervious pavers.
