Located on New Haven’s bucolic Hillhouse Avenue among other 19th century Yale mansions, we brought this historic property up to current codes to improve the infrastructure and make it more accessible – sitework and site concrete work included:
- Installation of underground storm water detention.
- Excavation for staircases and installation of piers for an accessible ramp.
- Placing in of a ductile iron fire sprinkler pipe for fire suppression.
- One of the project’s challenges was the tree on the Trumbull Street side of the property – see photo to the left. It is touted as the ‘oldest’ Sycamore tree in New Haven and required oversight by an arborist to manage its care – we performed excavation by air spading and hand digging around the root system.
